When PROOF Research joined with Lawrence Barrels in 2012 they acquired 15 years of experience in manufacturing precision steel barrels. These stainless steel barrels are made in-house with an absolute commitment to extreme accuracy and quality. They start with double stress-relieved 416R stainless steel, a pre-hardened chromium stainless steel ideally suited for use in precision, match-grade rifle barrels. 416R was specifically designed by engineers in collaboration with barrel makers and rifle manufacturers to provide the consistency, high quality and durability the firearms industry demands.

Your AR barrel is pre-chambered in either the 5.56 NATO or .223 Wylde and ready for installation by your gunsmith.

Your Pre-Fit Savage bolt-action barrel will arrive chambered and threaded in various calibers. We recommend a qualified gunsmith install the pre-fit barrel on your Savage. These barrels are made for the smaller thread size receivers. Feel free to call us to double check which one you have. You can also tell which thread size you have by measuring the barrel nut length. If it is 5/8" long you have the large thread and these barrels will not work but you can still use a bolt action blank and have it threaded and chambered by a gunsmith.  If your barrel nut measures 7/8" long then it would be the smaller thread and these barrels will work. 

Benchmark Barrels uses only the highest quality 416R and 4140R carbon steel in the production of our product. This ensures that our barrel is the finest you can put on your rifle.

All barrels are individually double hand lapped to a true consistent bore. The manufacturing process also includes double stress relieving and quality control inspection utilizing proprietary methods along with the most accurate industry techniques available. 

We also stock barrels fluted to a specific (installation) length in the popular #4 sporter contour.

These barrels are gunsmith ready, meaning that the the barrel is threaded for the receiver but needs to be chambered in the desired cartridge by a qualified gunsmith.

Carbon fiber has long been hailed across many industries—aerospace, cycling, alternative energy—as a wonder material making everything lighter and stronger. When employed in a rifle barrel the benefits extend beyond reducing weight and increasing strength. Our patented manufacturing process begins with full-profile, match-grade 416R stainless steel barrel blanks that are made in our firearms division. These blanks are then turned down to a significantly reduced profile greatly reducing weight. This reduced contour barrel is then wrapped with high-strength, aerospace-grade carbon fiber impregnated with a proprietary matrix resin developed by our advanced composites division, PROOF Research ACD. The carbon fibers we use have a unique ability to diffuse heat along the length of the barrel (much like fiber optics transmit light). Carbon fiber also moves heat very effectively through the wall (thickness) of the barrel greatly increasing heat transport resulting in barrels that cool faster, maintain accuracy over longer sessions of fire, and live longer. The end result is an aerospace-grade, high-fiber content composite barrel that is stronger, lighter, as accurate as the finest precision steel barrel, and durable to perform in the most demanding environments. They’re not just lighter—they’re better.
