Milled from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, this design brings an interchanable detachable magazine system to the time-tested Winchester Model 70 rifle. It is made to the same military-grade specifications as our M700 stealth kits.

The assembly itself is one seriously rugged unit, cnc machined and hard-coated black. The extended latch assembly looks very rugged, the latch itself could be filed down shorter if desired. I like it where it is as it is quickly able to be engaged with the trigger finger, dropping the "empty" and the AR-Type magazine funnel seems to find the fresh mag on its own and suck it right into receiver with no fear of error or misalignment. Therein lies the advantage over previous "flush-bottom" systems - one can stay more easily target-engaged during a stressful drop 'n swap reload or when loading the magazine into the rifle in bad light.

The magazines are black-coated steel. Battle proven and as strong and indestructible as a magazine can be, certainly what you'd expect from AI. I have tested them with the cartridges listed, they should also be fine with the 6mm Rem and most pointed factory loads for the 7X57 Mauser round and other similar cartridges as long as they measure under about 2.95" in overall loaded length. (If you have any specific questions on other cartridges please call to inquire as we have in-house Model 70 experts.)

Nominal Specs:

  • M5 M70 Steath DM hardware - 4 oz; 7075-T6 Alloy
  • .308/5 round single stack centerfeed magazine - 4 oz; steel
  • Accepts .308 Win, 7-08, .260 Rem, .243 Win, & similar .308 based cartridges
  • Internal Magazine O.A.L. 2.97" (Stocky)

NOTE: This will drop in / is designed for the Bell & Carlson 7775 (sporter) and the Bell & Carlson 7200 / 2972 (heavy barrel) rifle stocks cut for one-piece floorplates. Other stocks designed for this one-piece floorplate configuration may require very minor fitting (i.e. standard factory stocks, McMillan). This modification will not affect your ability to reinstall your hinged floorplate in the future. Stocks designed for two-piece M70 floorplates are not recommended for this upgrade. (See Tech Support for the different M70 factory floorplate configurations.)

My guess is they would be a great candidate for putting the FN PBR and SPR barreled actions into a Bell & Carlson or McMillan stock also, but haven't tried it yet. The issue with the (non-Winchester) FN series has always been getting the factory floor plates and trigger guards into an aftermarket stock, seems to me these would solve that problem nicely.

Magazines: These are designed for the five-round, Accuracy International single stack .308 Win / 7.62 magazines, (available below) NOT the double stack magazines that we sell for the Remington 700. We recommend you get your extra magazines at the time of purchase because they are only produced a couple times annually.

Solution to my problem!Review by Mickey
The early FNH SPR .308 I own Is a great alternative to the Remington 700. It came with a conventional floor plate making reloading slower than the others shooting Remington 700 rifles with detachable box magazines.

This kit solved two issues. First, my COAL to seat bullets .010" into the rifling did not fit in the fixed, blocked magazine space of the SPR. The DBM setup allows my 2.900 overall length cartridges to feed smoothly from the magazine, making single loading unnecessary.

Second is the convenience of AIC quality mags for my platform. I am no longer fumbling for loose rounds when I am on the firing line at our local long range match. I bought several extra magazines so that I can perform an effortless reload, or carry tracer or different ammunition for different scenarios.

The installation did not require modification to the as issued McMillian A1 stick, although the assembly was a snug fit. I love this setup, which allows me to use the Model 70 action with its controlled round feed, with all of the convenience of detachable magazines. Expensive magazines, but well made and very reliable.

Thank you for an outstanding product!!! (Posted on 5/19/2016)
