Versa-pod has the largest variety of forend "adapters" (the head part that attched to the stock) for quick mounting on several rifles and larger caliber pistols. Adapters have a tool-less design and can be taken off and on in a similar amount of time as the competition's non-modular bipod. With the VersaPod there's one huge difference however, a single set of bipod legs (or legs of varying heights) can be now be interchanged from one rifle to the next in a matter of seconds! Push the release button, slide it off the steel stud (on the front of the adapter head) and pop it on the next.

Stocky's take: If you are just getting started in the VersaPod, I suggest getting the #52 with the #1 adapter (unless you have a perfectly flat forend) as that will cover most rifles, prone field or bench shooting. Please do not confuse these with the cheaper "classic" aluminum bipods or the models with full-length leg springs, these are the most rugged steel version!

How may times have you asked me to find the perfect bipod for the flat-bottom stocks? Finally, here they are ... What caught my eye at SHOT this year was not only the modular nature of the system, the ease of adjustment for cant (level) and pitch; but also the fact that it has no exposed, branch-catching springs and was forged mostly from steel. But the real clincher was when I saw the flat forend adapters (heads) for the Bell & Carlson vertical-grip tacticals! One for the 2092 / 2997 with a sling stud attachment, another for the 2094 / 6629 series that slips right into the integrated forend (Anschutz) rails very solidly. Works great on the Bell & Carlson Odyssey 10/22 stock too.

I set the line up with the 'pods and heads separated so you can order only those parts you need. I suggest you get one each of the bipod legs (or Battle Packs) that you might find useful; then get a forend adapter for every rifle you use on a regular basis. Now mix and match bipods at will in the field or on the range, no more finagling with coin slots trying to change bipods. Plus you can add a VersaPod adapter head for a lot less that you can add that other complete bipod some stores sell!
