It's designed for scope use will accommodate both right and left-handed shooters. Bell & Carlson stocks are available in any of the durable finishes listed.
Bell and Carlson stocks are constructed using a "hand lay-up" process, using a variety of "composite" materials. These composites, including fiberglass, aramid fibers, graphite, epoxy gel coats and laminating resins; and polyurethane reinforcement with milled fiberglass, provide a warm and solid feel rather than the hollow, toy like impression one gets from injection molded stocks.
Bell and Carlson stocks are reliable over a temperature range of -50ºF to + 140ºF and all stocks are covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Besides being impervious to weather, having the benefits of strength, and the reduction of felt recoil, Bell and Carlson stocks are built to look and feel like a wood stock with which all shooters are familiar.
All stocks are for current model factory barrel contours and it may be necessary to remove minimal amounts of material in the receiver area and/or barrel channel if your action is different. Carbelite and Premier Thumbhole stocks are "first generation" and the molds are sometimes getting a bit old (like 40 years old). This means they are not up to the same precision level of the Medalist aluminum bedded stocks, often need fitting and are not as cleanly inletted as some would like them to be. If you do not accept the fact that you may have to do some fitting and/or bedding on a Carbelite stock, or take it to a competent bolt-action riflesmith familiar with them, please do not waste your time or money by purchasing one as we do not accept returns on Carbelites for any reason.
I have read some so-called 'reviews' online where folks complain about this, but those 'in the know' realize they are what they are ... we still offer them because they are very usable and are often the ONLY replacement stock on the market for many fine old firearms. If there is a Medalist available for your rifle, get it and not the Carbelite, but there are still many Carbelites in the battery for Pre 64 M70's, Springfields and Enfields ... I still carry them all over the world hunting. So don't fall for some neophite's internet review, they still work great, are ideal for bedding & squeezing the last bit of accuracy out of your discontinued-but-excellent rifles.

Stocky's Take: Hard to tell how many of these I've owned over the years, these Carbelites are the workhorse of the industry for over 4 decades! Black and the four spiderweb colors are generally the fastest to get when the factory is busiest as they are the most popular. The premium colors (i.e. Dark Timber) take the longest. Barrel channel and magazine box area modifications may be required for magnum calibers and/or heavy barrels. Magnum calibers will require embedded steel lug. (i.e. .300, .338, .375, .378, .416, .458, .460, etc.) For a real classy upgrade choose a spiderweb or signature camo, think about adding the Maxxguard coating and a Decelerator pad for the heavier calibers. (see Add Ons for upgrade details.)
On a more specific note, if your particular rifle has a Medalist available, I heartily recommend getting it. Medalists have the Pachmayr Decelerator installed, once you factor that in they are about the same price.
THE CARBELITES ARE BEING DISCONTINUED AS THE MOLDS ARE GETTING WORN Bell & Carlson - Carbelite(TM) line of stocks are generally pretty clean on the exterior, but the internal inletted areas (barrel channel, magazine well, bottom metal, etc.) are often somewhat rough and usually need some minor work for best overall results. Please plan on doing this, it is considered normal and we do not accept returns for this reason.
