Stocky's take: I discovered this gem while manning the booth at the NRA convention in 2011 after having been on-the-hunt for the world's best modular chassis systems (I mean that) for at least 6 months at that point. I had a suspicion that this product category was getting ready to explode, and everyone with a CNC was fixin' to develop their own, mostly, I suspected, based more upon who could build the cheapest... not necessarily the best. I think you're seeing a lot of them in the market right now.
I was impressed with the Saber-Forsst right away and gave the gentlemen by card. Over the months to come I was to inspect just about every chassis systems I could get my hands on and began to develop a real idea for how they should be made, what features were of value and what were not;the quality of final fit, finish and ease of installation rated very high in the stocks I wanted in our line-up.
Let me summarize my findings this way - if money were of no consequence the hunt for the ultimate stock would end right here. These are the most solid platform possible to bolt a 700 into. They are also the most user-friendly from an adjustability standpoint because you can adjust not only the drop at heel, drop at comb and length of pull, each in about 10 seconds flat, but also the grip for distance from the trigger as well as the angle; for example you can make it the same angle as a 1911 pistol, an M16 or an M24. If you cannot make this stock fit your torso perfectly you'll never find one that will. From an accuracy perspective the machining is obviously superior to just about everything else out there with a conspicuous lack of tooling marks to detract from the superb fitting and finish.
But when you come right down to it what sold Stocky was the looks. When I was busy selecting the finalists at SHOT after looking at all the myriad competitors, upon walking into their space I was totally taken aback once again with this stock's striking good looks. The care and attention to details like the contrasting color of the engraved lettering, the numbering of every slotted attachment point for repeatability in set-up, and most of all the three-dimensional, translucent effect of the clear coated carbon fiber forend all combined to confirm that this stunning creation was indeed the Shelby Cobra of the gunstock world and more than worthy of becoming Stocky's flagship tactical. I don't think anything I could own in the riflestock world will give me more reliable service or personal enjoyment.
(Instruction video below. Note this Mod-0 video shows buttstock adjustment using tools, this version, the Mod-1 requires no tools to adjust the buttstock. Installation is the same however so we have included it here.)
