 These are the finest aftermarket stocks ever made for the Remington 788! I realize that is a strong statement but when you see the condition our competitors stock arrives in you will know exactlty what I mean, we used to carry them. The Tundra is a stylish sporter style thumbhole stock that is right at home in the woods or on the range. Features include a comfortable rollover cheek piece and a semi-flat forend for greater stability when shooting from a rest while retaining a comfortable grip for offhand and field position shooting. This exciting gunstock is a completely finished 'drop-in' (minor fitting may be necessary but I doubt it) and our goal ois to have you shooting one of the world's best thumbholes 15-30 minutes after you open the box. It comes with a durable, ding-resistant, non-reflective, no-spook, waterproof finish, dual forend studs (sling and 'pod) and a thick vented AireCoil™ recoil pad. It's widely held that laminated stocks create the best combination of wood-like beauty, balance, durability and accuracy of all gunstocks available. However it is not well known why:When a laminated blank is made, the color-dyed hardwood sheets are compressed in synthetic resin permanently bonded under thousands of pounds of pressure. This process completely impregnates the wood pores with a transparent synthetic material. This means that these stocks have all of the advantages of plastic stocks without the dull look, feel and muzzle-heavy balance of an injection-mold or fiberglass unit. Perhaps most importantly, they are far more silent in the woods ... no game-spooking "tink-tink" sound when accidentally tapped by a limb or neck-slung game call in the field. Insist on a Stocky's laminate, not one of the lesser quality imitations that claim they are 'as good.' Only our stocks have a proprietary hand rubbed finish, upgraded studs and a nice recoil pad not a cheap buttpad. As if this wasn't enough, we have hundreds of examples of stocks in our warehouse with finishes that have yellowed and cracked over the years, all purporting a so-called 'factory' savings to their purchasers. 100% American Made - Carved for you from best-quality Vermont Rutland Corporation hardwoods, the sole manufacturer of laminated hardwood materials in North America. There's been a lot of advertising floating around about cheap laminated thumbholes. We tried them and they are not up to snuff for magnum recoil or hard hunting, I have photos of them split at the rear tang. These stocks will take it!
Remington 788 - Unconventional lengths (A "long action" is a .308., "short action" is .22/250 or smaller), be sure to measure takedown screws if in doubt.
Long Action 7 1/8" (.243, 6mm, .308)
Short Action 6 3/4" (.222, .223, 22-250 etc.)
They do not fit the .30/30 or .44 mag.
