What is Ultra Walnut? Since the dawn of shoulder fired firearms the relative merits of the various materials we use to mount them in has been a very hot topic indeed. Rifles require a relatively long piece of material and the inletting must be very precise. Then there's the issue of swelling and warpage to contend with, much to our dismay this is especially prevalent in the most beautifully figured specimens. Then there's the issue of stability and stiffness, the stiffer the stock the better any given rifle has the potential to shoot. So over the years various materials have been substituted for solid walnut primarily among those arms that may be called upon to perform in a variety of weather and altitude conditions. In other words, we want complete confidence during the summer months on the clays field, while fully expecting it to be ready for a hot downpour of September teal season as well as in the dry desert-like conditions of a high-plains pheasant shoot. Enter laminated wood. By laminating several layers of material together, most of those ills have been negated. For example, Stocky's Thumbhole Laminated Shotgun Stocks have the balance and warmth of real wood without many of the disadvantages. However, to the solid wood aficionado, the rich looks of a premium dark walnut stock is still lacking. Until now you had to choose one or the other. Ultra Walnut™ is the only solid wood gunstock that conquers these issues. Although it has been oft claimed (some manufacturers actually paint stocks to look like wood), these are the genuine richness of hi-grade walnut with the accuracy, durability and stability characteristics of a laminate. In fact it's the highest tech laminate out there. Sandwiched between 2 solid blocks of dark, premium walnut is a carbon fiber multi-directional material, all 3 layers laminated together under thousands of pounds of pressure to create the stiffest and most stable walnut stock available today. We've added a highly figured burled walnut grip, then a six-plus layer finish plus a recoil absorbing Pachmayr Decelerator® recoil pad, arguably the best pad available. 12 Ga. GLOSS forends are for the light contour barrels and are reportedly able to be fitted to the standard barrels but we cannot promise that.

Whatever is left over from this sale will be individuallt photographed and auctioned off on ebay this fall, they will go for several hundred dollars apiece but we do not have the time right now to do so.
