It is widely known that laminated stocks create the best combination wood-like beauty, balance, durability and accuracy of all gunstocks available. However it is not well known why:

When a laminated blank is made, the color-dyed hardwood sheets are compressed in synthetic resin permanently bonded under thousands of pounds of pressure. This process completely impregnates the wood pores with a transparent synthetic material. This means that these stocks have all of the advantages of plastic stocks without the dull look, feel and muzzle-heavy balance of an injection-mold or fiberglass unit. Perhaps most importantly, they are far more silent in the woods ... no game-spooking "tink-tink" sound when accidentally tapped by a limb or neck-slung game call in the field.
