The DuraMaxx™ is an outstanding replacement stock for both the long and short action Savage heavy barrel rifles. It was our goal to design a stock for the hunter/shooter that would be versatile enough to be used for off-hand, bipod or benchrest use and provide an exceptional value. It is very light weight and yet very stiff for excellent accuracy. A very cost effective and highly recommended upgrade for your 10fp or 12V! This is a synthetic drop-in stock that comes complete with aluminum pillar bedding and Pachmayr Decelerator pad. The stock is designed for a free-floating barrel, has no checkering and is available in all the finishes that we currently offer, including our web and camouflage patterns. NOTE: These DURAMAXX SAVAGE ACTION STOCKS ARE CURRENTLY DESIGNED FOR NON-CENTERFEED (Older) RIFLES ONLY, NOT THE NEWER CENTERFEED MODELS. - See our Main Support Page for details on the following:
- If your blind magazine box (that's the metal liner around where your cartridges are loaded) is attached to the receiver and your takedown screw measurements are either 4 1/4" (short) or 5 1/8" (long action) it will work.
- It will not work for 4 3/8" short actions or those rifles that don't have the magazine box attached to the receiver, that is a new centerfeed model.
- Bell and Carlson only makes the 2997 short action for Savage centerfeeds, they do not make a long action heavy barrel stock.
- It's confusing but that's the way it is.
