Completely finished with carved cheekpiece. Includes butt pad and sling swivel studs. They are among the easiest stocks to glass bed with or without pillars.
- Fitting is always required on Mauser-based rifles. Cut required for bent bolt handles.
- The M98 version will be a good place to start for other FN Mauser based rifles like the Interarms Mark x, Remington 798, etc.
These JRS Classics are often heralded as the most reliably accurate riflestocks under the widest range of outdoor elements; from winter coyotes through Rocky Mountain elk season and into to the spring-time African Plains game. I know of units that have been subjected to unintended field tests courtesy of unruly horses, buggys, ATVs, etc. that kept right on hunting.
The wood construction also improves the balance and heft of the rifle. Unlike comparable synthetics you'll enjoy a very solid feel, and are among the easiest sporters to hold steady on distant targets. Many argue that they are the most durable ... I have a strong tendancy to agree. Unless your horse stands directly on the magazine box I can't imagine how you'd break one and even then I wouldn't bet against it. I've accidentally had them drop onto a concrete floor with not so much as a nick in the thick catalyzed finish.
In other words, you can bet that it will quickly become your go-to-gun in the lions share of situations. You may even end up with several.

Pedigree:
Designed by the noted firearms/hunting writer Jon R. Sundra, this stock is a synthesis of all the fast-handling and easy-to-carry design elements found in the most elegant examples of the Classic Style. Fans of these units agree they are the best-looking, most reliable and fastest hunting handles money can buy.
The slender, somewhat open grip is well defined, but does not extend too far below the toe line. The comb is parallel to the bore, which aids scope use, and because of its straight-line design, minimizes cheek slap under recoil. Additional facial support is provided by a graceful cheekpiece that blends perfectly with the overall shape of the buttstock. The forend is flat-oval in cross-section, and proportioned to complement barrels of 18-26” in length.
It's widely held that laminated stocks create the best combination of wood-like beauty, balance, durability and accuracy of all gunstocks available. However it is not well known why: When a laminated blank is made, the color-dyed hardwood sheets are compressed in synthetic resin, permanately bonded under thousands of pounds of pressure. This process completely impregnates the wood pores with a transparent synthetic material. This means that these stocks have all of the advantages of plastic stocks without the dull look, feel and muzzle-heavy balance of an injection-mold or fiberglass unit. Perhaps most importantly, they are far more silent in the woods ... no game-spooking "tink-tink" sound when accidently tapped by a limb or neck-slung game call in the field.

Mauser bolt action rifles have been produced for over 100 years in a wide variety of calibers, from many manufacturing plants all over the world. Most of these guns have several critical dimensions in common, allowing us to group them as Small Ring, Yugo and Large Ring Mausers. - Small Ring Mauser - Receiver measures 1 1/4” on the front receiver ring and 7 5/8” center to center on the trigger guard screws. Fits most models: 93, 94, 95 & 96 rifles and carbines.
- Large Ring Mauser - Receiver measures 1 3/8” on the front receiver ring and 7 7/8” center to center on the trigger guard screws. Includes most large ring actions as well as the Centurion FN, Parker Hale 1200, and the Santa Barbara. 98 bolt channels must be rasped in.
- Yugo Mauser - Receiver measures 1 3/8" on the front receiver ring and 7 5/8" center to center on the action screws. Includes M48, M48a & M24 Yugoslavian. Bolt cut will also need to be rasped in.
Note: Minor fitting may be required on Mauser stocks due to the wide variety of Mauser actions available.
 | We will typically specify a narrow #1 contour barrel channel as below for all Mausers. This way everyone can use them as most barrels are bigger. Steps, bands and custom tapers must be hand fitted. |
