This is the preferred model for heavier barrels due to the wider beavertail forend.
- Completely finished with Ventiliated Forend
- Includes butt pad and sling swivel studs
- Roll-Over Cheekpiece
Best for long range work, the Thumbhole Target has been widely acclaimed as the most accurate and softest-recoiling field stock on the market. It is also a very handsome stock, sporting a gracefully tapered thumbhole, gracefully flared yet meaty pistol-grip and unique rolled-cheekpiece.
The VT forend is wider, for the ultimate stability when rested, plus vents to keep the barrel cool when the prarie dog town becons. It has also found popularity in wet climates and water will run right out the vents instead of pooling and rusting your barrel, and offers a superior gripping surface due to both the vents and the design of the foregrip.
Some models are cut for standard barrels and others for bull barrels ... if this is important to you please contact us prior to purchase and we will be happy so see if we can acommodate your needs. You can always open up a narrow channel but not vice-versa.
Ruger 77MkII SA are slightly more expensive as they were customs, but we do have them (see below). The current crop of 77's have sporter barrel channels but are easily opened for the Varmint & Target tubes. Grab one if you need it, they are rarely made anymore!
NOTE: SAVAGE SHORT ACTION STOCKS DO HAVE BULL CHANNELS & ARE CURRENTLY DESIGNED FOR EITHER 4.25" TAKEDOWN SCREW SPACING OR THE LATER MODEL 4.40" SPACING. THESE ARE THE FRONT 2 SCREWS, THE MAIN ONES THAT HOLD THE STOCK ON THE RECEIVER, MEASURE CENTER-TO-CENTER. SAVAGE CHANGED THEIR DESIGN 2 YEARS AGO SO IF YOU HAVE A NEW GUN IT IS LIKELY 4.40" BUT THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE IS TO MEASURE. 4.40" STOCKS SEE LRV LINK BELOW.
Not available left handed.
